What Does Perferated Bowel Mean?

I had hernia surgery in june another er surgery in oct, and have abdominal drains since becasue of a serma. I am in constant pain had a bowel obstruction this week, doc has me on a ton of pills including morphine and tells me they have no idea what to do with me. I went to the uw min this week and the doc says i have a perferated bowel and i could die but won' t do surgery for 6 months. so i consider myself dead what you think

Hello,

If this is really perforation of intestine, then surgery is must without this cure is not possible but condition could be more serious if surgery is not done in time.

If this is not the perforation, then underlying cause of your intestinal symptoms and pain needs to be found out and for that, it may requires some test like MRI, Ultrasonography (Colonoscopy may not be possible here in this case).

You can discuss this with your doctor for any other option if it is not the perforation.
