What Does Positive UPT Post Medical Abortion Indicate?

I used cytotec on Monday night and i strted bleeding but very dark and not too heavy...till now I still bleed but very light.I did PTest 3days ago and it s still positive.im 4wks and 3days gone.im thinking of going for D and C before the new months end.

It could be due to incomplete abortion or a FALSE positive pregnancy test.

The urine pregnancy test usually comes down to normal level within 4 to 6 weeks following miscarriage or abortion procedure. Therefore, you can get a FALSE positive pregnancy test within this time period.

However, I would advise you to get a pelvic ultrasound scan done. If it shows incomplete abortion then consult a gynecologist for a possible dilatation and curettage procedure to complete the process of abortion. If the ultrasound scan is normal then repeat blood pregnancy test at every week still it comes down to normal level.
