What Does Presence Of Pockets Around The Lining Of Uterus Mean?

My Gynecologist told me I have pockets around the lining of my uterus. What can this mean. There has bee no biopsy; however, I have had blood work done. The gynecologist has recommended an IUD or a hysterectomy. I am 48 years old. Can you tell me if this is possibly cancerous, or is there any other information you can provide me with. Thanking you in advance

hi healthcare magic user, from your description seems that their is overgrowth of endometrial tissue that is lining of the uterus. if I would have been your doctor i would suggest you to get a endometrial biopsy done to rule out why their is increase thickness of lining? glandular overgrowth which may turn up in malignancy in future or cancer of the endometrium. Then only I can guide whether to go for IUD insertion (Mirina) or go for hysterectomy.
