What Does Prominence Mean In Medical Terminology?

My husband just received a call about his ct lung scan. We were told they see a "soft tissue prominence" on the left lung. Does "prominence" now mean a mass in the medical world? His Dr. will be calling us back on Friday for more in-depth discussion. He has constant cough, constant cold symptoms. We started doctoring thinking it was his heart, but it looked good. Some back/chest pain, some swallowing issues.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
As you describe it could be the swelling in the lung tissue, or pleura, etc. So it is causing the pain in the chest back, and swallowing difficulty.
As they say, it is not clear from where it is coming, and what it is.For that they may need to have a biopsy for diagnosis.
It may be a lung tissue , or a pleura growth.Once diagnosis is established, the treatment is planned and proceed.
Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to have blood, general health and resistance against infections.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
