What Does Purple Lump On Lip And Cheek With Large Open Spot Around It In A Child Mean?

My 5 1/2 year old daughter has a purple lump on her lip and inside her cheek there is a large open spot and around it, it looks slightly purple. She has occasional stomach aches and headaches and tells me that the spot hurts inside her mouth. She also has loose stools lately. Any ideas?

thanks for your query, the lump over the lip could be a mucocoele(the cyst of minor salivary gland) or it can be a irritational fibroma. the open spot on the cheek could be the inflamed salivary gland duct opening. consult your oral physician to rule out these to and you can take topical anesthetic and analgesics. if it is a mucocoele you can get it excised. i hope my answer will help you take care.
