What Does ""increased Cardiac Size Relative To Thoracic Dimension" Mean?

Hi, my mum of 54 has recently been complaining of really bad back, neck, arm and chest pain. She was asked to do a chest X-ray and ECG. The report states "increased cardiac size relative to thoracic dimension that needs cardiological evaluation. associated prominent aortic knuckle". Please could you explain this as I do not fully understand.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest the transverse diameter of the cardia seen increased - there are some parameters to say that the heart is increased in size.
2.The aortic knuckle prominence is mentioned - it is when aorta gets unfolding.
3.Both the features are seen in the patients with the increased blood pressure or hypertensive cases.
4.Vascular or cardiac pathologies need to be ruled out. An ECG, cardiac ECHO will help to evaluate the cardia.
5.Cardia increases in size due to excessive pressure / pumping / hypertrophied cardiac walls.

Good luck.
