What Does Swelling In Upper Lip With Tingling And Numbness In Cheek During Pregnancy Suggest?

Hi, I have a swelling of the upper right hand lip accompanied with slight tingling and numbness of right have cheek. I have been to the doctor who thought it may either be an allergic reaction or a cold sore. I was prescribed antihistamene and a cream. 24 hours later, no change to swelling and tingling worse if anything. Also, I am 18 weeks pregnant. Have you any ideas?

Infectious Diseases Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your contact to healthcare magic.
I understand your health concern, if I am your doctor I suggest you that there is possibility for pregnancy induced hypertension. Because of this preeclamptic condition there is possibility of swelling of upper lip and tingling can be possible. You can check your Blood Pressure to exclude such a possibility. Also take drugs which is safe in pregnancy like magnesium sulfate under your doctors guidance.

I will be happy to answer all your future concern.
Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank
Infectious disease specialist.
Wish you a best health at health care magic.
