What Does Swollen And Firm Gland Under The Jaw Post Tongue Piercing Suggest?

I recently got my tongue pierced, about 5 days ago, everything went fine and my tongue has little to no pain. But since 2 days ago the (what I'm assuming) gland under my jaw/chin has gotten swollen and firm. My tongue does not appear to have any infection, I clean it as instructed. I'm afraid the gland/lump will worsen. What is going on ?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a swollen lump under jaw or chin can be either due to swollen Salivary Gland or an inflamed and swollen lymph nodes which may or may not be related to the tongue piercing..
In case if there is no pain or inflammation at the pierced site there is a possibility that the swelling is not rated to the piercing..
You can consult an Oral Physician and get clinical evaluation done and a lso he can advise you to get an x Ray or MRI of the swelling done to rule out the cause and treat accordingly..
As of now you can take anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen or Naproxen and do warm compresses over swelling..
Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
