Hello,

Black color stools may be due to infection or bleeding or drugs like bismuth or antacids. Upper gi bleed etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. please check stool for microscopy and occult blood, upper gi scopy for stomach ulcers. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Avoid bismuth contain antacids. Check for iron tablets consumption? if yes it is the culprit. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
