What Does The Ct Scan Regarding Sinus Indicate?

Findings after C.T scan: There is diffuse polypoidal thickening that , is causing complete opacification of left maxillary sinus. It is associated with erosion and bony remodeling of adjacent bony septa. There is destruction of the medial wall of the maxillary sinus with extension into left nasal cavity causing its complete obstruction posteriorly bulging into the nasopharynx on left side. There is marked widening of left osteometal complex. Multiple hyperdensities are noted in it. No evidence of Agger nasia halar or onodi cells on either side. No evidence of concha bullosa. Impression: Findings are likely due to sinonasal polyposis with fungal colonization

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of CT scan of the face is as follows:
The lesion is present in left maxillary sinus. Maxillary sinuses are present beneath the cheeks.
There is presence of polypoidal radio-opaque lesion in the left maxillary sinus.
The lesion is causing destruction of the underlying bone.
The lesion is also extending into the left nasal cavity and back into the nasopharynx and it is also causing obstruction.
These features can be seen in neoplastic growths of the sinus, however, the radiological examination suggests presence of polypoid lesion with superaddedd fungal infection.
A biopsy is however required to confirm the diagnosis.

Thanks and take care
