What Does The Findings: "Fusion Changes At L5-S1 With Posterior Decompression At That Level" Indicate?

I had an L5-S1 fusion with rods placed back in 2010. I just had the right SI Joint fused 5 months ago. I was in an automobile accident about a month ago and had another lumbar MRI. The findings on the MRI state "Fusion changes at L5-S1 with posterior decompression at that level" What does that mean?

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Your present MRI scan is showing the post operative status at the L5-S1 level. Its not an abnormal finding. Those are normal post operative changes that appear on an MRI after a decompression surgery followed by fusion, which you had in the year 2010.

If you have any more queries, consult your treating physician and discuss the issues

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
