What Does The Meaning Of Pus Cells 120-130/hpf In The Urinalysis Report?

Hi.. My sister's urinalysis result has pus cells of 120-130/hpf. As a medical technologist I know that it is a sign of urinary tract infection but she says she doesn't feel any symptoms. is that possible? should she drink antibiotic right away? thanks!

Hello and thank you for asking HCM.

The urinalysis of your sister shows an urinary tract infection. I would say a severe one. Depending from the kind of bacteria and the response of her immune system she might or not have symptoms.
Sometimes the symptoms are not severe and the patient doesn't think that he/she has any problem.

I suggest she starts a cure with antibiotics. She needs to check up with a physician to get the prescription of the antibiotics.

If you have any other question, feel free to contact me.
