What Does This MRI Test Result For Uterus Indicate?

what does it mean from MRI report that says: THe serosal marigns are smooth, intact and no parametrial extension is seen. The entire endometrial cavity is distended with T1 hypointense, T2 hyperintense lobulated mass with small amount of surrounding fluid. The endometrila thickness measures up to 2.1cm. The endometrial mass shows enhancement on post -gadolinium sequences. This lesion shows restricted diffusion. There is focal myometrial extension in to the right superolateral aspect of the uterus ( approximately 50% myometrial wall involvement). There is a normal enhancement pattern to the ovarian/adnexal regions bilaterally. There are a few subcentimeter sized lymph node along the bilateral external iliac vessels and bilateral inguinal regions: not enlarged by size criteria. They have a preserved fatty hilum with normal cortical enhancement. No restricted diffusion is seen.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The MRI report with raised endometrial thickness of 2.1 cm and extension of myometrium indicates pathological proliferation of the myometrium of the uterus.

* Though primary concern of hyper flow of menses do respond to certain hormone medications and curettage procedure, majority of the surgeons do recommend

- biopsy of endometrium

- laparoscopic or abdomen hysterectomy with lymph node sampling and frozen section ( provided family aspects are completed ).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
