Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... Hi I had a sexual encounter with CSW wearing a condom, since it was my first act I am not sure of the protection it has given me. I have tested for VDRL at 6 and 9 weeks -ve, HIV elisa at 6week and 3months which is negative. HSV - 1and 2 IgG and IgM at 3 months both negative. also did a complete heamogram and urine analysis. at 6 weeks which is negative - normochromic , normocytic (normal) picture. I have a lot of sores in legs which are healing but have leg pain and pain in arms(right) as if pulling in nerves or muscles. also had mild lymphodenopathy in the back of the neck(near medula oblangata)Is it neuropathic pain ? of HIV patients are my results conclusive. Should I assume it to be because of HIV infection undetectable in tests. Please advice
Hello and welcome to HCM, The probability of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases is negligible if barrier contraceptive is used. Non-reactive tests for VDRL, HIV, HSV rules out these infections for all practical purposes. However, to be double sure, you can get PCR for HIV to be 100% sure. Lymph node enlargement is seen in HIV infection, however, there are many other causes of lymph node enlargement. An aspiration cytology of the lymph node should be carried out to know the cause of lymph node enlargement. The sores on legs should be investigated by clinical assessment and investigations.
