What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound Scan Report Mean?

I had a pelvic ultrasound done yesterday due to right side and pelvic pain, bloating and tender breasts. The report shows that my right ovary measured 6.7x4.2x6.3 with a cyst that measured 4.7 x 4.6 which has doubled in size since February and my left ovary measures 2.8x2.5x2.7. What does this all mean and what do I need to do next?

Hello, thanks for writing to HCM.
Management of ovarian lesions depends on age of patient, cyst size, appearance and complaints.
Pre-menopausal patients having a simple cyst less than 5 cm can be followed serially on ultrasound.
The risk for developing cancer is low, but a CA-125 blood test can be done as baseline.
Watchful waiting is usually the option, but you do have symptoms and the cyst has grown, (and to avoid complications like hemorrhage/torsion) cyst removal maybe suggested.
Left ovary appears normal in size.

Hope this is helpful.
Do write in if you have any queries.
All the best.
