What Does This Stool Analysis Report For Diarrhea And Fever Indicate?

My son 3.5 years old has severe loose motion almost 9 to 10 times since last 14 hrs and shivering plus fever touching 103 . We got a stool routine done today and there were 3 findings. MaCrophages present (2-3 hpf) mucus present pus cells (20-25) present. Please guide

Hello,

The stool test shows an increased number of white blood cells (WBC) in the stool. This is a common finding in case of infection (viral, bacterial, parasites, etc) but it does not specify which type of infection is causing this in your case.
If your symptoms last more than 2 weeks you may need other tests to determine the exact cause such as a stool test for ova and parasite, stool culture, stool antigen for giardia, etc.
