It needs to be clinically correlated to malabsorption if symptoms are there. The stool pH is normally alkaline. Neutral indicates that some amount of acids have been present in order to neutralise it. It could be due to bacterial degeneration of undigested carbohydrate matter. Had I known the symptoms for which the stool test had been done, I would have been able to comment better. Mucus threads are not a cause of concern.
