What Does This Ultrasound Test Result Of Ovary Indicate?

Recently had ultrasound showing a mass behind right ovary and something undefined on the left. I requested and got ca-125 blood test today. I read on your website that there is now an additional test called a HE4 used in conjunction with the ca-125. Should I request this as well. Also I asked if I should see a gynocological oncologist but was told to see my regular gynocologist. Do you agree?

Hi,

H E4 test determines human epididymis protein which is indicative of ovarian cancer cells. In case the is more than 159 PM, you can consult an oncologist for specific management. It's ok to consult your family physician to interpret the results (normal/abnormal).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
