What does this urinalysis report indicate? RBC UA 3-5 WBC URINE 6-10 BACTERIA UA TRACE EPITHELIAL CELLS, URINE 1+ MUCOUS, URINE FEW LEUKOCYTE ESTERASE UA SMALL This is my 87 year old mother s lab result, she has Alzheimer s, is in assisted living, this was a follow up Urinalysis to see if her prior infection has gone away. I took her to the lab late Wednesday afternoon and have not heard back from her doctor. She isn t feeling well today and I m concerned. Thanks.
Hello dear Understand your concern Compare your report with normal urine report: Color – Yellow (light/pale to dark/deep amber) Clarity/turbidity – Clear or cloudy pH – 4.5-8 Specific gravity – 1.005-1.025 Glucose - ≤130 mg/d Ketones – None Nitrites – Negative Leukocyte esterase – Negative Bilirubin – Negative Urobilirubin – Small amount (0.5-1 mg/dL) Blood - ≤3 RBCs Protein - ≤150 mg/d RBCs - ≤2 RBCs/hpf WBCs - ≤2-5 WBCs/hpf Squamous epithelial cells - ≤15-20 squamous epithelial cells/hpf Casts – 0-5 hyaline casts/lpf Crystals – Occasionally Bacteria – None Yeast - None
As bacteria, WBC and RBC presents suggests Urinary tract infections Take following advice: Drink plenty of waters Do not delay in bladder empty Tablet septran Tablet paracetamol Eat fruits like orange, papaya, pineapple and cranberry.
