Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have colitis and Immodium doesn t stop the diahrrea, nor does changes in my diet. I was given the drug generic for Entocort (Budesonide). The Doctor was cautious about my taking that, I presume to stop the violent combustic action of the diahrrea . My Google search is talking about COPD? No one has suggested that I have that...Is it related?
For diarrhoea treatment, you will need to take antibiotics (ofloxacin with ornidazole) and other supportive treatment like antispasmodic, antiemetic, antacids, prebiotics and postbiotics.
Only immodium will not relieve from the diarrhea due to colitis.
The other important thing is to diagnose the cause for diarrhoea.
It could be due to acute gastroenteritis or coloitis commonly but the the other possibilities should also ruled out.
You must see physician for medical history and clinical examination with some routine blood count, ESR and ultrasound abdomen.
Consult your doctor first. Regards,
