What Else To Do For Knee Pain Caused By Baker's, Ganglion Cyst, Arthritis Other Than Doing Stretches, Acupuncture?

I am a Registered Nurse. I have recently developed severe leg pain. it stated with me climbing my stairs and I felt a snap behind my left knee. I immediately could not weight bear d/t pain. I was seen in ER and MRI of knee only showed bakers cyst and ganglion cyst. Both knees also showed degenerative changes and arthritis (I am only 46) I have went to physiotherapy but no real change noted. For past two weeks I have been seeing a chiropractor who is also a kinesiologist and acupuncturist. I have been doing multiple stretches and acupuncture with tens. I was told that muscles in legs and calves are extremely tight and as a result my knee caps barely move. The pain is much worse a day or so after treatment. Treatment helps a bit. Anything else I should be doing or telling my family MD

Hi there.

The pain which you are experiencing could probably be due to a fractured osteophyte or a degenerative meniscal tear .
These are common symptoms in Osteoarthritis of knee.

Kindly consult your family doctor for the grade of knee arthritis.

Initial treatment always starts with pain relieving medications , physiotherapy , local heat massage with gel , and Glucosamine supplements.

Grade 1 and 2 arthritis patients are good candidates for Intra articular joint fluid injections.

High grade arthritis patients have to ultimately resort to knee replacement for permanent pain relief.

I hope my advice has helped.
Good luck
