What Harm Could Be Caused By Taking The 'pure Creatine Powder'?
Hi, I have recently bought 'MET-Rx PURE CREATINE POWDER' to help me improve my endurance and muscle, and to my surprise it said, 'Not intended for use by persons under the age of 18.' I am 16, turning 17 in 3 days and I am taking 'MAXIMUSCLE HIGH PROTEIN PROMAX EXTREME' which is a protein powder, containing creatine. I have had no adverse effects from 2weeks of taking the 'MAXIMUSCLE' and was wondering what harm could be caused by taking the 'PURE CREATINE POWDER'? Thanks a lot
Welcome to HCM. The disclaimer you are talking about is for the safety of our young adults still in growth. Otherwise, the Natural Medicines Database, although showing much bickering among studies, shows the most promise for enhancing athletic activity if taken according to direction and not for more than 1-5 years in healthy adults without history of kidney or liver disease.
Creatine should be taken under supervision of a doctor and I would ask that you please wait for a couple of years to try this substance?
In adults 20-30 gms/day for 3-7 days of low maintenance improves performance for sporting events.
GI pain, nausea and vomiting are frequent side-effect.I do not recommend until you are 18. Kathryn J. Shattler, MS,RDN
