What Is Risperdone Prescribed For?

my daughter is 10yrs old she was put on risperdone at age five when mher mother and i seperated her mother claimed she was having behavioral problems i myself never saw it i just saw normal behavior for a child her age . she has stayed with me for ahwile and not taken her meds i always saw her behavior worsened when she took it . after taking it she complains of headache stomach ache and she breaks down at everything . i have read that this medication is used for bipolar and schizophrenia she was never diagnosed with either of these can you give me any suggestions

Hello
You both ( husband & wife separated ) , I am sorry to say , blaming wife for every wrong doing( this is your personal matter ).
RISPERIDONE ( RISPERDONE ) : This atypical ANTIPSYCHOTIC has a profile similar to that of clonazapine in respect of negative symptoms .
This drug causes dyskinesis such as akathisia , and hyperprolactenemia .
Other side effects are postural hypotension, ,dizziness, insomnia ,& constipation.
This is well tolerated and prescribed for the treatment for TANTRUMS , AGGRESSSION and self injurious behaviour of children with autistic disorders.
As I mentioned that this is a good drug and help in calming agitated or aggressive patients.
So I mentioned all side effects and indication of drug .
In my opinion for the sake of DAUGHTER , please consult a PSYCHIATRIST and get his opinion.
This will be better for daughter .
