What Is Topmax Prescribed For?

I would..but it cost $$$...I just got prescribed topmax by my reg doc today and was just curious about it....I do not have siezures or migraines, but severe depression and bipolar disorder. I am already on 40 mg of citlatopram going on 12 years, 100 mg trazadone...3 years, before that, ambien, lunesta, seroquel. Just today my primary pshychiatrist of many years decided on topmax, and everything says its for seizures, etc. He said it would help my isolation and locking myself up...Just want to know more about this drug,....Thanks,,,,if you could just redirect me to a website please..

Topamax is used for a number of different reasons. It is indicated for seizures and migraines as you mentioned, but can also be used as a mood stabiliser.
Other uses are - to help with weight loss and in chronic pain.

With your history of bipolar disorder, it is likely that it is being used as a mood stabiliser.

All medications are associated with potential side effects, these are effects that may or may not occur.
Some of the potential side effects of this medication are drowsiness, memory loss, dizziness, feeling weak, painful periods, numbness, difficulty sleeping.
