What Is A Popping Sound In The Lower Abdomen Followed By Extreme Pain Suggestive Of?

While at exercise class, I was doing a move and heard a pop in left side lower abdomen followed by excruciating pain. I was embarrassed so I continued on the best I could but I still have a full ache there. Should I see a doctor? Or is this something time will heal

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.

Popping sound along with pain in lower abdomen can be due to Muscle tear/ sprain or development of hernia.
Hence it is important to have an examination conducted by a Doctor, preferably by a General Surgeon.
There would a persistent swelling may be with discoloration of skin due to hematoma if there is strain.
There will be increasing on coughing lump and is reducible one in case of hernia.
You also need to take medications and bed rest.
Ultrasonography may help along with clinical examination to get a confirmed diagnosis.

Take care.
Let me know how can I assist you further.
