What Is A Red, Bruised, Small Cyst On Lower Lip Suggestive Of?

How quickly can a muccocele go away? My lip started bothering me this morning and I looked in the mirror and there was a red/bruised looking spot. I felt it and it felt like a small cyst. About 30 minutes later I felt again and it was gone, although the area is still slightly red/bruised looking..... I was afraid it was a blood clot at first but my lower lip doesn't seem like a place that a blood clot would really occur....

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a small red. Spot along with formation of a small cyst can be due to causes like mucous cyst known as Mucocele while it can also be due to Hematoma formation in case if there is accidental lip biting..
Both the conditions are harmless and will resolve gradually..
Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
In case if it is a Mucocele then doing concentrated salt water rinses can help in its regression..
In case if it is a Hematoma it will resolve on its own although can take about a week or ten day to resolve..
