What Is A Vaginal Web Blockage Called And How To Treat It?

When I first got my period around the age of 12 I had a problem getting a tampon in and a major problem getting it out. We went to the doctor and he said that i had a web-like layer of skin blocking my vaginal opening. he said it was rare but he had seen it before. however my in my case the web was a simple vertical line and the one before me had been an intricate web. He had called it webapheria (I don't think i spelled it right). What my question is, is this: ever since then when i try to tell a DOCTOR about this condition they have no idea what it is. I've even tried looking on line and have tried to break down the word using medical terminology but it doesn't add up. I want to know if that doctor made the word up and what my condition is really called. I know its rare but somebody has had to of heard of it. . .
