What Is Bunionectomy?

I was told that when I was 21 years of age, I needed a surgery to correct something in my left foot. I did not get the surgery because my husband at the time said we could not afford it. I am currently 40 years of age my issue has gotten worse. I was told when I was 21 years of age that I needed a surgery to pull my toes back to match the ball of my foot and that screws were required to achieve this issue. What is this called? I am planning to make an appointment with a foot specialist, however, I need to know what type of issue this is called. For the life of me, I cannot remember what the doctor said all those years ago. Thank you in advance for your help.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your description is not very accurate but what I could make is that you probably have Hallux Valgus- Deformity of the great toe which bends towards the 2nd toe and the process is very slow growing.

If it is Hallux Valgus then only treatment is surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Gopal Goel, Orthopaedic Surgeon
