Hi! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. If the swelling on the face and eyes do not start subsiding in another 24 hours, and the headache continues the same way, I would advise a CT scan for him to rule out any other intracranial injury. If it starts subsiding , then he would need close observation to note any change in his level of consciousness and behavioral pattern and report in case of any such change. I hope, the treating doctor might have prescribed some anti inflammatory drug for the swelling.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.

Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr. Prathap's  Response
Hi..
Looks like your son has only soft tissue injury with no brain injury.
Cause for the pain and swelling:
- soft tissue will heal be itself but during the course there will be minimal pain.
-post trauma normally there will be edema, fluid collection at that site due to early response by the body to injury and due to gravity the fluid normally gets collected more over the lower eye lids ( ecchymosis) in case of head injury which will get absorbed over time.
Things to do:
1)Bed rest, hydration and good nutrition can aid in faster healing.
2)Take pain killers as advised by the pediatrician as it has dose as to be calculated and given as per body weight.
3)He can b given serriopeptidase to reduce the swelling.
4)Cold compression will help.
5) if head ache is persisting and any sins of head injury ( loss of consciousness, vomiting, giddiness, seizures) occur report to the hospital immediately.
