What Is Causing My Diarrhea With Blood And Mucus In Stool?

About two days ago I had an episode of diarrhea. Then about two or three hours after that I would go to the bathroom and only blood and mucous would come out. Then today I had diarrhea again. I have tried to take pepto bismol but that is not helping. What is wrong and what should I do?

Hello,

The blood and mucus in stool indicate underlying intestine infection with altered gut flora mechanics.

Here are some best working tips for better recovery:
- Consume more liquids as possible.
- Dietary restrictions to avoid spices, non-veg stuffs.
- Get prescription of GI specific antibiotic as Rifaximin or else, probiotic with lacto bacillus content from your doctor for fast recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
