What Is Causing Numbness And Pain In Left Arm? Taking Medication For Osteoarthritis

Thanks for your time. Every so often with tonight being one of them, I feel numb and slight pain that radiates down my left arm to my pinky. I am 53 and suffer from osteoarthritis of both knees. I do not take medication for it nor for anything else, When I sit upright the pain and numbness seem to dissipate although tonight my left little finger (pinky) still hurts somewhat. What is the possible cause to this? Thanks for your opinion. Good night.

Hello.
Numbness and pain in the little finger may be due to .
1 Osteoarthritis , as you are a known case of this disease so we can't rule out involvement of little finger . Diagnosis can be confirmed by consultation with an orthopedic surgeon.
2 As you age is 53 years , so this numbness and pain may be due to occlusion of arteries supplying blood to this portion.Diagnosis can be confirmed by angiography ( doppler test ) for this portion .
3 Peripheral neuropathy may be the next possible reason. Consult a neurologist and get his opinion.
In my opinion first of all consult a physician and get his opinion and there after deal according to condition.
Good luck.
