What Is Causing Pain In Joint Of Big Toe While Removing Shoes?

Hello Dr. Grief,When I take my any shoe off my left foot, I get extreme pain in the joint of my big toe. The paid subsides after a few minutes.I usually take at least a one mile walk everyday. I experience zero pain while I have shoes on.Thank you,Doug Luedtke

It can be due to shape of the shoe, Is it conical in shape from front. I would recommend you to change your shoes and then see. You have not mentioned if it is since long time or recently you have started felling this pain. I do not think that you will need a pain killer.
