Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I seem to be retaining a lot of fluid in my legs, I am 47, over weight, 5 1 and about 195, and I am not sure if I have arthritis in my feet, or beginning stages of planter ficiaitese (pardon my spelling) or if it is the combo of the weight and water retention, I want to address all issues and looking to find out which should I conquer first.thank you, Sunnie
Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Divakara's Response
HI Thanks for posting your Query .
HI apart from Fluid retention in legs you have not mentions any other complaints , so I presume you don't have any other complaints .
There are many causes of lower limb swelling , most common are Low protein levels in Blood , Drug induced , Kidney problem , Heart Problem or Insufficient blood supply to legs .
Unless you have pain the chances of Arthritis or Plantar fascitis is unlikely .
I advise you to undergo these tests to find out the cause .
Serum Creatinine, Serum Albumin , Urine Routine . Ultrasound Abdomen Pelvis --- if it comes normal --- Venous Doppler of both legs --- if it comes normal 2D _ECHO .
Kindly revert back after reports for further discussion.
