What Is My Pelvic Ultrasound Result Suggestive Of?

I was told by my doctor s office that they found hyperechogenic focus on a pelvic ultrasound. It was on a remnant of an ovary. I had my right tube and ovary removed almost 30 years ago. I am 61 years old. I had breast cancer at age 29 and 58 ( triple negative). They want to do another ultrasound in 6 months and said this spot is not a concern. Still haven t be able to talk to my GYN. Not sure hat this means? Thanks, Colleen

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a pelvic collection or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID),

Consult a gynaecologist and get evaluated.

Follow up scans are required to assess the disease progression.

In severe cases a laparoscopic examination is required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
