My husband is in stage 4 liver failure and is in need of a liver transplant....I do not understand what all these MELD Scores mean....just keep hearing that the higher that number is the more likely he is to recieve a transplant....so , my question is ......what number is good? How high does this scale go?

What Is Normal MELD Score?
Hello, The MELD score is an abbreviation of a model for end-stage liver disease. It is used to assess the prognosis of chronic liver disease. If the score is more than 40 the prognosis is bad and you might probably require a transplant. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
