What Is The Best Diet For A Diabetic And BP Patient?

hi doc, my dad is diabetic, he also suffers from high bp. Last month he was operated for angioplasty. His age is 58 years. As far as physical activities is concerned he is very lazy for any workouts even for walking. Also, he is a occasional drinker & smoker. Can you please suggest me a proper diet (including which fruits he should eat). Thanks in advance

Hello,
Thank you for writing to HCM.

First BP and Blood sugar level should be controlled properly with medication.
He must avoid salt and sugar. He can take half amount of salt than normal if his BP is well controlled.
He must avoid junk food, sweets, oily food and fried items completely.
He can take fruits such as Apple, papaya, half banana, walermelon, kiwi and musk melon.
He must avoid mango and grapes.
Ask him to add more vegetables (including bitterguard) to his diet and oats recipes for main course.

Regards.

Regards
