Hello,
As you have the degenerative changes in the cervical and
lumbar spine intervertebral disc, it is advised to take an MRI first hand. Post which based in the extent of the nerve entrapment the treatment plan can be initiated. Nerve blocks which are termed as shots in the spine are advised to the patients who have
severe pain. In most cases, such nerve blocks are taken in the later stages if the compression isn't getting relieved and the complains of
radiating pain is high.
In most cases of my clinical practice of over 12 years, most lumbar and
cervical spine cases have responded well to conservative management under physiotherapist guidance.
For injury of the neck now I will advise you to use hot water fermentation along with a soft
cervical collar. This will help reduce the radiating symptoms. Post this stabilizing the muscles of the neck and upper limb is advised. Once the pain level comes in between 5-6 on the visual analogue pain scale than exercise to strengthen the neck and upper limb muscles along with core and lower limb should give you good results.
Nerve blocks are good to reduce the pain symptoms but the correction of the
joint stability may not happen. So will advise you the above-mentioned exercise plan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
