What Is The Best Way To Avoid Dehydration?

I have had an ileostomy seven years ago. In the hot weather particularly I experience symptoms of faintness, giddiness, and a very dry mouth. Are these symptoms of dehydration, and am I more likely to become dehydrated because of a Stoma. If so. what is the best way to avoid it?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Ileostomy done 7 years ago hence the body gets accustomed to the alterations in such a long time.
Dry mouth, fainting and other symptoms indicate that this is common in summer and you do not take sufficient liquids may be due to fear of having ileostomy diarrhea.
Hence I would advise you to increase your liquid input including fruit juices, coconut water to a level of maintaining proper hydration as well as electrolyte balance to avoid the symptoms you are getting in summer season.
You may get your electrolytes tested if you get such symptoms again.
