Hello,

A single spike in blood pressure could be related to anxiety or the discomfort that you have been experiencing. For this reason, I would recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure values in the next days.

If your blood pressure values are persistently high (above 125/85 mm Hg), I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some blood lab tests (thyroid hormone levels, complete blood count, PCR, ESR, kidney and liver function tests, cortisol and aldosterone plasma levels, etc.) in order to investigate for metabolic disorders which could lead to secondary high blood pressure at this age.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
