What Is The Cause And Treatment For Smelling Woods Can It Be Sinus Or Brain Tumors?
Hi...I have been smelling smoke or something like burning wood for about a week now. I went to the doctor and the PA told me to use a netty pot and flush my sinuses, but didn t think I had a sinus infection. The smoke smell gets pretty potent at times and it s driving me crazy. I ve tried the netty pot and one of the nostrils doesn t really drain so I am assuming that things are impacted up there. In any case, I made the mistake of looking up the reasons for smoke smell in your nose and it talked about not only sinus infections, but brain tumors, epilepsy, and various other horrible things. So now, of course, I m freaked out. What would you do?
For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a careful physical check up and some tests:
- a brain CT scan - an EEG - a sinus discharge bacterial culture (if a sinus infection is revealed in the CT scan) - complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.
Hope to have been helpful! Best wishes, Dr. Aida
