What Is The Cause For 3 Fibroid Tumors And An Abnormal Uterus After A Transvaginal Ultrasound And A D&C Respectively?

I am a 57 year old woman who is in menopause who has not had a period in almost 3 years. Ten years ago I had an endometrial ablation for horrible periods. In November I began bleeding. The doctor did a biopsy in the office but was unable to get more than fragments and also did a transvaginal ultrasound. The latter revealed 3 fibroid tumors, one in what was left of the endometrial lining. Additionally, she said that although my lining was within the norm for menopause she thought it was little thick for someone who had had endometrial ablation. She scheduled a D&C to get a better biopsy and to resect the tumor in the lining. When she did the D&C the hysteroscope did not reveal a normal uterus. She went in 6 centimeters and said she did not want to go in further because all she was seeing was a smoothwalled "tunnel" rather than the uterus and did not see the tumor. She said possibly the uterus had "filled in" I was pretty out of it and have not had my post op appt but I have a few questions. Why would a uterus fill in? The biopsy results have not come back yet and it has been almost 3 weeks. Is that normal? My mother died from uterine cancer so I am a little nervous.

Thanks for query.post menopausal bleeding is always a warning sign for underlying tumour in 10% of cases.exact diagnosis can be said only after biopsy report.it would be better if CA125 marker level be evaluated once.do not panic as there are good options to treat uterine cancer these days.as you are post menopausal hysterectectomy is not an issue.don't come to conclusions .wait for biopsy report.regards
