What Is The Cause For Pain And Slight Sore In The Neck And Shoulder On The Left Side?

I have had a slightly sore neck and shoulder on the left side for a week or so but within the last couple of days I have had a dull but sharp head pain again on the left side it's about 2-3 inches above my ear, the pain lasts only for a couple of seconds and then passes again but it is happening more and more frequently about every couple of minutes

It looks to me that you are having your neck muscle spasm. I want to suggest you following.
1.Tablet Myoril or Myospaz tablet daily.
2.Tablet voveran daily
3.Hot water fomentation
4.Diclofenac ointment
5. Avoid using very high pillow or keeping your neck in same position for long time.
