Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Cause For Sharp Pain In The Right Side Of The Head?
Hello, my daughter has been having a sharp pain in the right side of her head when she shakes her head from side to side. Our family doctor ordered and MRI and it came back normal. What could be causing this pain and should we take her to a specialist?
Usually, pain can arise due to vascular insufficiency. But then if the pain is on one side and we would like to know the nature of pain - like sharp shooting, numbing, tingling etc. You didn't mention the age of your daughter which would have provided more insights into history. Well, this pain can even be trigeminal nerve inflammation as during the inflammation of such nerve it is difficult to bear the pain. Having met up to a neurologist and a proper physical examination should do help us for diagnosis. Also, one thing more was missing from the history was did your daughter undergo any dental procedure recently?
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
