What Is The Cause Of A Lump On The Clavicle?

Mary here. I'm 63 years young and in great health. I've had a soft fleshy lump on my right collar bone for about 6 months. It's about 1/2 inch wide and like a flat ball in shape. It seems to be attached to my bone, but it moves freely, 1/2 an inch in any direction. This weekend it started aching a bit, within a two inch radius of the lump, so I've decided to see an orthopedic surgeon. What should I expect? Thanks so much.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lump. Possibilities that may need to be considered include enlarged lymph node, lipomas, cysts, growths from underlying connective tissue etc.
I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the X-ray of the area affected and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of lump under his/her guidance.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
