I had a total lap hysterectomy almost 2 weeks ago and for the past 2-3 days have had a constant pain on my lower rgt side with loose stool .Is this normal.I did read where the intestines fill in the void where the uterus, cervix and ovaries were. Not sure about this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

After laparoscopic surgery, first bowel movement occurs after 4-5 days of surgery. Few patients might experience symptoms like:
- Gas incontinence and pain
- Urge to defecate (loose stools)
- Increased fecal incontinence

These symptoms will settle within few days and the bloating alone takes few weeks to settle

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
