Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Cause Of Irregular Bowel Movements And Abdominal Pain?
I have never been really regular with having bowel movements. Sometimes I go several days without having a BM. I seen my PCP about 6-9 months ago because of severe abd pain, and small amount of blood in my stool. I was told I had h.pylori and she suggested I get colace and take it regular. The blood during my BM has progressively gotten worse. Now there is blood everytime I have a BM. I know it's hard to really determine the amount of blood in a toilet but there is so much that the water is completely red and its not possible to see the bottom of the toilet. The blood is a bright red. Also I have been noticing at sometimes a large amount of a white milky discharge on the toilet paper and in the toilet. My pcp also did a rectal exam and said there were no hemorrhoids, so why is the bleeding worse and what is this discharge?
As per our clinical experience, the common underlying cause of concern here is inflammatory bowel condition, altering gut flora mechanics, discharge of blood, and milk-white in stools. We recommend basic lab tests, ultrasound of the abdomen, and pelvis with colonoscopy to decide the further line of action.
