Hi, I got an accidental kick on my knee at football (soccer) last night. I had a lot of pain running just below the kneecap (feels to the touch like something that links the knee and the shin) I stopped running and the pain went, so I played on for 20 minutes without any pain or discomfort. However when I got home, it really hurt, and it now hurts bending, going up and down the stairs and using the brake and clutch pedals in my car. Any idea what it could be and how long the pain will last?
Hello, knee pain following accidental kick can occur due to many reasons like dislocation, fracture, sprain and ligament tear. Your symptoms more indicating towards either patellar dislocation/ anterior cruciate ligament injury/ meniscal tear. To know the exact cause you should consult an Orthopaedician who will examine the part through different movement and will ask for some investigations like X ray, USG, and MRI of affected knee. You should take rest, protect knee from further injury, avoid exercise, massage and alcohol. you can take tab. paracetamol for pain relief / tab. Ibuprofen for pain and inflammation relief. Take care, bye.
