What Is The Cause Of Numbness?

Hi Doctor! On my left hand on the outter side was hurting for about a week really bad until last night. then my pointing finger and thumb is VERY numb. I am concerned a lot due to my grandmothers history with the same symptoms and later had a massive stroke!! Please help me

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Your symptoms seem to be related to a peripheral nerve damage to the median nerve. But, you should not worry about any possible stroke, because your symptoms are not related to the central nervous system.
For this reason, I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and performing a nerve conduction study to exclude possible pinched nerve.
