Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My child was poked in the eye with a pencil. There was no redness for a few hours then later in the day I noticed it had become red and I took her to the doctor. Is it normal for the redness to take a while? could this mean there is something else wrong?
Hi, From history it seems that due to injury on white part of eye i.e. sclera there might be some sub conjunctival hemorrhage giving rise to redness in the eye. Put antibiotic eye drops 3-4 times in a day. Nothing to worry, within 2-3 days redness will be alright. Consult your doctor and get examined to rule out any injury on cornea. Ok and take care.
