My 72 year old mother woke up over night with a very large, non-stop nosebleed. She went to the local ER, and was told she had a ruptured blood vessel behind her nose. The Dr. packed her nose, and eventually the bleeding stopped. However, her blood pressure was very high (normally it is low), and they monitored her for an hour before releasing her. She has to return to have the packing removed in 2 days.
What could be the cause of this, and how concerned should I be?
